What we do…
The RAY team of qualified playworkers take our RAY Play Van out and about across the whole county delivering mainly outdoor open access play sessions using a mix of low cost/no cost resources.
The benefits
- Play has been shown to improve children’s health and wellbeing through fun, socialisation, and being physically active
- Our community sessions bring families together
- Our school play sessions increase physical activity on the playground, increases play between ages and genders, and increases cooperative play
- RAY Play session demonstrate how you can create an stimulating play space with resources that are either free or low cost, helpful for families when finances are under pressure
- Child led play that occurs during RAY sessions has ben shown to help children facing challenges at home or school, and builds their inner resilience and ability to cope
- The handwritten and heartfelt Christmas card was truly beautiful to receive and the certificate with hours volunteered was also really special, I’ve volunteered for several organisations and Ray really do show their appreciation for their volunteers which means a lot.
- I believe RAY Ceredigion provides an invaluable service to the people in the area, young and old alike. In the group I volunteer at, it is clear how much the time spent together, socialising even if it is only once a week, is extremely beneficial to the service users
- You’ve given me an insight into what can be done with a volunteering supported organisation. Ray provides valuable services to the community from parenting classes and information to a dementia group
Good sense of community; friendly helpful staff
