What we do…
RAY Forget Me Knot dementia support group is a friendly welcoming safe space for those with dementia and their carers.
The group meets every week on Fridays from 10.30-1.30pm and activities are arranged to meet the needs and interests of those that attend. These include, arts and craft workshops, creative entertainment and sing-alongs, occasional outings to places of local interest, playing a selection of board games such as dominos, indoor croquet, and cooking demonstrations. Monthly visits from care professionals offering advice and guidance. The group is an opportunity to develop new friendships and provide support for each other.
The benefits
- A welcoming peer support network where carers and those with dementia can meet and chat to others who understand their challenges
- A chance of the carer to relax knowing our amazing team of volunteers are on hand to provide support by getting to know the person with dementia, finding out what they like and what interests them and engaging them in chat and activities while the carer takes a breath.
- Access to a range of support agencies who can provide individualized and more specialist services
- A wonderful team of staff and volunteers who provide support for both the carer and the person with dementia
